As often as I try to convince myself I have complete control over my habits, thoughts, and actions, deep in my subconscious there's an inkling to just how unflatteringly submissive I am to my passions. When an idea abruptly jolts through my mind, I will drop whatever I'm doing and pick up a pen, desperate to capture the fleeting memo in physical form. I can be sitting in the dentist's office, riding the bus, or about to chow down a spoonful of rice and the effect remains the same; I think of something that interests me and I reach to write it down.
If I'm invested enough in a particular hobby, it stows away in every corner of my brain, constantly poking, prodding, and whining like a lonely dog; begging to be scratched, petted, and loved until I give in. It needs my time and attention and I won't get a moment to relax until I entertain it. Some could say that's the very definition of an addiction, and they'd be right.
And what an addiction it is. To say that Android Netrunner has been on my thoughts lately is like saying the ocean can be a little damp on occasion; it doesn't even begin to describe how deep this game has its tendrils buried in my neck. When I should be focused on work, exercise, eating, driving, sleeping, or breathing, I'm imagining what sorts of new ICE I could wiggle into my Corporation deck or which Hardware would be best for my Kit strategy. I'm imagining the ways the meta will evolve with each expansion and how I can counter-build those who are already counter-building the probable future outline.
Appeasing the Runner who lives deep inside me, I realize this battle is better fought with a keyboard and mouse than pen and paper. So I hopped on my Google account, sifted through some templates and pictures, threw a few names at the wall until something stuck, and here I am, writing on my new Android Netrunner blog Click for a Credit.
Welcome!
Since Netrunner is teetering at the end of the Spin Cycle, nearing the release of Honor and Profit, and just making headway into the first season of 2014's Store Championships, I'm confident there will influx of content to write about. And even during the downtime, I intend on spitting unintelligible rants and absurd deck ideas at my webpage often enough to keep myself satisfied and calm while the itching subsides.
Thank you for tuning into Click for a Credit and I hope you pull up a cyber chair, join in some ideas and discussion, and get uploaded into the thematic, dystopian universe of Android Netrunner.
